Acceptance/Rejection Notification and Review Results
The journal Editor will make the determination of all work deemed appropriate for a specific journal. This relates to both technical and non-technical works. For technical works, the authors will receive notification that a journal administrator has been assigned by the Editor to handle the peer review process. Authors will be notified by e-mail of ongoing actions related to their work. For non-technical works, the journal Editor will make determinations of acceptance and the appropriate auto-generated e-mail will follow.
After your technical work has been assigned to an Associate Editor, they will assign experts to review the technical content of your work according to ASME standards. After reviewing the comments from the experts, the Associate Editor will make one of the following recommendations to the Editor:
Recommendation for publication
• Accept As Is (no changes required)
• Accept With Minor Changes (changes suggested but not mandatory – paper will
not be re-reviewed, rebuttal not required)
• Revisions Required (work acceptable but revisions required per reviewer comments)
• Major Revisions Required (work not acceptable in present form, author must
revise and resubmit)
• Revise to a Technical Brief (work not appropriate as full paper, author should
shorten to technical brief and resubmit as a new work)
• Reject (work not acceptable for journal and will not be published)
For all of the other recommendations, you will be notified by email when the Editor has made their decision to accept, resubmit as Technical Brief, or reject. After the Editor has made their decision, you will then be able to log into your author account and see the comments of the reviewers and the recommendation of the Associate Editor. The next step for accepted papers will be to upload the production files for the accepted technical work.
